Cost of Living
When comparing with other countries in the European Union, Malta has one of the lowest costs of living. As wages and salaries are reasonably low, food and drink together with furniture are very affordable. This is also reflected in the requirement of basic services like water, electricity, butane gas and communications. Garbage is collected on a daily basis and not is charged as there are no local council taxes.
Maintenance charges are quite low as a result of lower wages in comparison to Europe which positively effects property maintenance, car repairs and the requirements of tradesmen like electricians, plumbers and carpenters are also reasonably priced.
