Yachting
Malta is well established as an attractive yachting haven. Located in the centre of the Mediterranean besides offering excellent facilities for passing yachts it is also a good base for winter berthing. The Islands’ 200 km of coastline offers excellent berthing facilities within the numerous little sheltered creeks and bays.
The marinas in Malta are sheltered from open seas and you can live on board in winter months without discomfort. One of the most important ones is in the Marsamxett Harbour just off the main commercial port of the Grand Harbour. Here there are 15 pontoons with 700 berths and in the next bay of Ta Xbiex there are more berths for the larger yachts .A new residential development complex next to the Hilton Hotel also has a small well serviced marina.
In the Grand Harbour, there are nearly 200 pontoon berths with a further 33 berths for stern-to berths for the very large yachts.
All marinas have full utilities and are extremely sheltered from inclement weather conditions.
